In 1964, the Stratocaster® underwent a major design change in terms of specifications such as the pickup, pickguard, headstock logo, and body contour. The Custom Shop '64 Strat Journeyman Relic is a faithful recreation of that transitional model, customized for all players. The two-piece hand-picked alder body is finished with a compelling Journeyman Relic® lacquer finish. The 1963 C-shaped quarter-grain maple neck features a 9.5”-radius round rum rosewood fingerboard with 21 narrow-tall (6105) frets.
Hand Wound Custom Shop Gray Bottom 64 Stratocaster pickups (RWRP middle pickups) are wired to the Tone-Saver circuit and 5-way switch with Vintage Modified #2 wiring. This achieves the iconic tone of the time that maintained a relaxed high end even at low volumes. Other features include a 3-ply mint green pickguard, Custom Shop synchronized tremolo, vintage-style tuning machines, bone nut and wing string tree with tall metal spacers. Comes with a deluxe hardshell case, strap, and certificate of authenticity.
